The Cayos Cochinos are a microcosm of Central American inequality. The gleaming archipelago off the Honduran coast is home to Garifuna fishing communities who live in misery and in constant conflict with authorities who have prohibited catching fish. The islands are an Eden for tourists, a goldmine for big business, and a hellscape for islanders struggling to survive.
